The Agricultural Company Iemma has existed since the early 1900s, and even then, it was sensitive to innovation in the field of animal husbandry. It was one of the first companies to practice buffalo farming in stables with milking stations, while in the area, buffalo herds were left to graze freely.
In the 1930s, a selective breeding program was initiated to obtain high-quality milk and improve animal productivity, thanks to the scientific contribution of Dr. Gaetano Iemma (an agronomist and industry scholar born in 1907). The first company dairy was established in 1936 for milk processing.
In the 1970s, Gaetano Iemma (born in 1945), the nephew of the aforementioned, took the reins of the company, building modern structures for animal shelter and one of the first mechanical milking systems applied to buffalo. The current company is the result of the passion and commitment that have always characterized its operations until the untimely passing.
His children currently continue the family tradition with pride.
